Description The candidate is responsible for leading and supporting the trading activities of a team of employees to maximize short-term earnings opportunities associated with the PSEG Power asset portfolio. The candidate will be trading physical and financial energy related instruments in support of portfolio management activities in PJM, NYISO, ISONE, and ERCOT. The candidate will have responsibility for analyzing and evaluating energy markets and system conditions to insure that all relevant information is captured, disseminated, and utilized to form trading positions that significantly enhance the value of Power’s portfolios. The candidate will be required to develop and expand the capabilities of the trading team in analyzing and executing transactions in support of Power’s business objectives. Additionally, the candidate will establish and integrate the risk parameters appropriate for energy related products consistent with the existing company risk framework, and implement a disciplined limit structure throughout their team. Successful candidate will understand and operate within ER&T and Corporate policies and procedures and maintain and apply working knowledge of PSEG Standards for Business Controls and meet management’s expectations for effective internal controls.

Required: Bachelor's degree in business, math, economics or Minimum 5 years of energy related trading and commercial risk management experience, with a demonstrated track record of good performance. Experience with OATI, OASIS, and other physical electric trading platforms. Detailed knowledge of the Power pools in which PSEG Power operates. Previous managerial or employee development experience. Must be an effective communicator, team player, with strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

Description:
The successful candidate must possess a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business, Mathematics, Economics, Finance or related technical discipline. Must posses four years experience in the electric industry, including experience with short term trading.

Job Requirements:
Typically possesses seven or more years experience in functions related to trading. Typically possesses five years experience in supervisory and/or energy trading program management. Ability to supervise, implement and/or lead major specialized operational projects, tasks, or work groups to solve critical operational problems. Thorough knowledge of energy trading policies, objectives and goals and applicable governmental laws and regulations, in addition to knowledge of current situation in the electric industry. Demonstrate thorough knowledge of the electric grid in order to understand the effect of marketplace events on prices & availability of power. Experience executing energy trades including the ability to perform analyses of supply and demand conditions in electric, natural gas and other energy markets and forecasting loads to refine procurement strategies. Experience reviewing and reconciling electric and/or natural gas positions to ensure timely and accurate information is used in making transaction decisions. Demonstrated experience with analyzing, managing, and tracking gas and/or electric positions and market risks and representing trading and marketplace perspectives in developing regulatory positions, filings, etc. Ability to develop business relationships with suppliers, marketers and other counterparties involved in the wholesale electric market, physical gas market, or financial markets. Knowledge of current products, issues and market trends and ability to become a recognized industry expert in order to support company goals and objectives in the marketplace. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to accurately analyze information, resolve disputes, integrate people processes, systems, and technologies, and make strategic decisions regarding project scope, impact, policy, development, and implementation. Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Preferred Skills:
Masters Degree in Business Administration. Experience working in the Western Electric

Typical Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will support the Energy Supply and Management department and is directly involved in performing tasks related to purchasing/selling power, scheduling, contracting and settling transactions. Typical responsibilities will include: Executing power and/or emissions transactions; performing analysis of supply and demand conditions in short term wholesale electric market and emissions markets; analyzing the impact of SCE's (Southern California Edison's) market positions and forecasting loads to refine procurement strategy; reviewing and reconciling short term electric positions to ensure timely and accurate information is used in making transaction decisions; developing business relationships with suppliers, marketers and other counterparties involved in the short term electric market and/or emissions markets; participating in industry forums and staying current on products, issues and market trends; developing external industry relationships and gaining the knowledge to be recognized as an industry expert in order to support SCE policy goals and objectives in the marketplace; developing presentations to seek management approval for new counterparties, products and transaction strategies to manage position more efficiently within all CPUC (California Public Utility Commission), management and counterparty credit limits; supervising, implementing and/or leading major specialized operational projects, tasks or work groups to solve critical operational problems; mentoring junior Traders and Analysts and performing other duties and responsibilities as required.

Description
Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement term trading strategies that support the direction provided by the Portfolio Director and Regional Vice President.
• Execute delivery and risk mitigation strategies that will enhance term asset value.
• Analyze and react to current term market conditions through bidding, trading, and use of hedging strategies to maximize term profits in accordance with company risk management guidelines.
• Interact regularly with other commercial operations traders to identify term opportunities and strategies.
• Partner with other business units and/or departments to identify and facilitate business process improvements.
• Work with other NRG staff to effectively maximize the Organization’s position and strategy in the Ercot market, including participation in market regulatory and policy directions.
• Interact with market participants and electricity brokers to develop, negotiate, and execute opportunistic term business transactions.
• Identify surpluses and needs for capacity and energy within the term trading window.
• Monitor variables that influence pricing, availability, and reliability of power sources.
• Maintain understanding of marketplace rules and procedures, and their affect in asset value and trading strategies.
• Maintain compliance with all related corporate and industry trading policies, codes of conduct and Sarbanes-Oxley reporting requirements.
• Support ongoing and special initiatives within Commercial Operations and business development.

Requirements

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in economics, business, finance, or other relevant degree with five or more years of power trading experience. MBA is preferred.
• Solid understanding of the bulk power market strategies, pricing, hedging and power flow strategies on the transmission grid.
• Extensive knowledge of trading tools and indices, marginal and average pricing, and generation commitment techniques.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills; sound conceptual thinking.
• Must have ability to make profitable business decisions quickly, to identify and communicate market opportunities to co-workers, and to understand all financial reports.
• Demonstrated self-starter.
