# Develop and manage company's risk management systems
# Understanding complex portfolio composition & communicate key business risks
# Manage Quantitative Analysis function including supervising staff of six
# Coach, develop employees, hire & retain professionals w/right distribution of skills
# Provide key insights to decision makers, shaping risk issues for senior mgt
# Enhance effectiveness of trading controls, meet company's target objectives
# Achieve target performance rating for quantitative analysis function
# Model the stochastic properties of commodities futures, forwards and spot prices
# Develop estimation procedure of model parameters
# Determine statistical significance of results
# Implement & enhance Monte Carlo price simulation models & methodologies
# Perform model back testing and portfolio stress-test analyses.
# Assess and report on the effectiveness of hedging strategies.

Exelon's Power Team, the company's wholesale power marketing and commodity trading organization, actively trades power and fuel in order to optimize the profitability of a growing portfolio of assets and load obligations as well as the implementation of risk management objectives. Our portfolio includes the largest fleet of nuclear generation in the U.S., plus extensive coal, oil, natural gas, hydroelectric and wind generation assets. The power marketing & trading organization (Power Team) is responsible for optimize the value of Exelon Generation's portfolio.
Location: Kennett Square, PA

We are seeking outstanding individuals to join our team as Quantitative Analysts and Business Analysts. Reporting to the Manager of Quantitative Analytics, analysts will actively support portfolio managers and traders by creating reports, tools and business processes used to develop and support hedging strategies, deal valuation, risk control, financial planning & reporting, and accounting. The successful candidate will be an integral part of the financial and portfolio analysis community within Exelon Generation Power Team. This role is a unique professional development opportunity -- the successful analyst will master critical details about key business processes and will be encouraged to transition to a wide variety of functional roles within Power Team.

The position will appeal to an individual that thrives in a fast-paced team environment and is interested in contributing to achieving business results in a rapidly changing and challenging area of the energy business.

Analysts are expected to:

- Develop expert-level knowledge of the Power Team Portfolio Decision System (PDS), and contribute to ongoing enhancement, validation and implementation of the system to meet Power Team's evolving business objectives.
- Design tests and execute rigorous validation of new models and systems; develop proof-of-concept tools to test out new analysis approaches.
- Enhance and validate automated daily portfolio and risk management reports.
- Perform modeling & analysis, and business process analysis & design in support of portfolio management, valuation, financial planning, risk assessment; develop and apply knowledge of portfolio & risk modeling for a wide variety of assets and trade types.
- Provide hands-on consultative support to assist Power Team users of the PDS system for financial analysis & risk management tasks.
- Prepare & deliver training for business users.
- Collaborate with Exelon IT to specify business functional requirements for production systems, and contribute to developing the Power Team information systems vision and strategy.

Qualifications:

- Requires an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related discipline. Relevant work experience is preferred.
- Energy industry experience and a high comfort level with various modeling approaches (Monte Carlo simulation, stochastic time series, dynamic / linear programming, optimization, etc.) are important.
- Candidate should understand or be able to quickly master fundamental industry concepts including option valuation, position management and hedging.
- Computer programming and database skills for model prototyping & report development are expected, for example VBA, C++, MATLAB, SAS, MS ADO, SQL, Oracle, TOAD and Microsoft BI (Analysis Services/Reporting Services).
- Proficiency with Excel & Access is expected.
- Prior experience developing software requirements, designing conceptual data models, databases & system architecture, and user interfaces, etc. is a major plus.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
- The candidate must be able to seamlessly collaborate with traders, portfolio managers, and IT staff.
- The successful candidate will have demonstrated strong quantitative & financial analysis capabilities coupled with the ability to work effectively to meet tight deadlines.

Description

New York Investment Bank seeks a buy-side Risk/Quantitative Analyst for its expanding prop desk. The Risk/Quantitative Analyst will be responsible for the collection, modeling, analysis and delivery of financial data. Idea generation responsibilities will be an important part of this job as well.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform research and analysis to support prop trading strategies
Develop and enhance prop trading financial models
Prepare ad-hoc financial modeling, analysis, and projections for current and prospective investments
Communicate results and make investment suggestions to prop traders and portfolio managers
Build and maintain the risk infrastructure for the desk

QUALIFICATIONS

MS or PHD in Finance, Engineering, Math or a related field
2-7 years of quantitative research or quantitative risk management experience (buy or sell side)
Strong modeling and writing skills
Programming skills(any of the following): Matlab, VBA, C/C++/C#, SAS, Perl, SQL
CFA a plus

Further, the ideal Risk/Quantitative Analyst will have strong verbal and written communication skills, will be a true team player with a commitment to success, and will be able to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly-changing corporate environment
