Java /C# Developer

We looking for a versatile Java/C# developer whose role will be distributed across all phases of the software development lifecycle.

The candidate will be part of the Rates Technology team which provides all technology solutions to trading desk. We are looking for a candidate who can work with traders to identify and assess business requirements. These requirements can be complex analytical calculations which the candidate will be required to model, or work with quants to get them integrated into banks core analytics library. The candidate then will then be expected to design and develop generic and flexible solutions for Rates which could also be re-used by other trading desks if required.

Requirements Key Skills

* Excellent problem solving/investigation abilities
* Excellent Communication skills (will be required to face off against traders/front office users)
* Ability to translate user requirements into working code.

Technical Skills

* Solid server side Java design and implementation experience.
* Database design (ideally Oracle)
* C# GUI experience

Pluses

* Spring
* C++
* Knowledge of Fixed Income and FX products.
* Scripting abilities- Shell or Perl

Junior candidates who do not have all the required technical skills should still apply if working in a challenging and dynamic role appeals, as the opportunity to learn these skills will be provided.

Our client, a small but fast-growing financial trading firm, with 50+ full-time staff located in downtown Chicago seeks Java Developers!

They trade electronically in financial markets around the world 24 hours/day, and because of their growing business, we are looking for top-notch Java developers to join their team!

Qualified candidates should have the following abilities:
Ability to write solid, well-designed and bug-free code because mistakes can be costly in any business but this is especially true in trading.
Able to work quickly because your work has a direct contribution to the bottom line.
We will be looking for people with strong analytic and problem solving skills.
You will also have to demonstrate a good level of initiative and flexibility.
We will be looking to see if you have experience in the full development cycle, from design through deployment and maintenance along with strong Real Time, Multi Threaded, Event Driven Development skills/experience.

Job Details:
In particular, you will be expected to start off by maintaining and modifying existing Java applications as a way to learn our systems.
Once you understand the systems, then you will need to manage yourself on small (1-person) projects through the whole development life cycle, starting with requirements gathering, design, development, testing, deployment and maintenance.

As your experience grows, so will the project complexity.
In the course of your work, you will have to interact with traders, system administrators, other developers as well as various exchanges and ECNs.

We are only considering local Chicago applicants at this time. Compensation is negotiable, but a successful candidate will be eligible for quarterly bonuses, profit sharing and equity ownership in that order. 3 Yrs. Java development exp.with complex, real time, multi-threaded, event driven applications using TCP/IP communication.

Requirements gathering skills.
Strong customer service skills.

Desired Skills:

Not required but advantageous would be experience with SQL, Linux environments, and trading environments and protocols, such as FIX.
Strong desire to get the job done in a manner consistent with the best of breed.
