Power Trader: $125-150K

Short Term WECC Power Trader

We are seeking an experienced (minimum 3+ years), Short term WECC Power Trader to be responsible for identifying and executing trading opportunities in the day-ahead, balance of month, and prompt month markets for a Proprietary Trading shop located in the Northwest. This position requires the flexibility and willingness to cover for other Traders as needed and must possess the ability to function well in an open-floor environment. Occasional travel will be necessary.

Compensation is $125k to $150k, plus Company benefits. Relocation expenses would be covered.

Primary Responsibilities:

· Execute trades in physical and financial products, including forwards and swaps.

· Establish effective working relationships with Utilities, Marketers, Traders, Schedulers and Transmission Providers.

· Accurately capture and report transaction data, including deal entry.

· Develop and maintain counterparty and broker relationships required to provide the Company with maximum market coverage in the relevant market.

· Work within WECC system, CAISO scheduling and congestion management procedures, standard transmission tariff rules and regulations.

· Work within the Company policies, practices, procedures, applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

· Analyze WECC fundamentals to optimize market opportunities.

· Maintain effective communication with term Traders, management and hourly Traders.

· Work collaboratively with other Traders and staff to analyze electricity market conditions and identify trading opportunities.

· Work with staff, as well as independently, to develop and maintain tools required for effective trading, portfolio management, and reporting.

Requirements

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have a proven track record of performing all Essential Functions listed.

· Broad knowledge and experience in tasks such as tagging, oasis reservations, curtailment protocol, and accurate accounting/reporting using industry standard systems and applications.

· In-depth knowledge of and ability to use OATI, OASIS and ETRM systems – experience with Triple Point a plus.

· Excellent interpersonal and written/oral communication skills, including listening skills.

· Demonstrated ability to assist other Traders to further develop network of potential buyers and sellers to maximize trading profits.

· Evidence of the practice of high levels of professionalism and confidentiality.

Required Education and Experience

1) A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a technical or financial discipline.

2) 3+ years of progressive, proven professional experience in trading physical Power products.
