Senior Level PHP Programmer
Dominion Enterprises, the leading photo guide/classified publication industry leader in the US (www.traderlonline.com) seeks a successful Senior-Level PHP Programmer to join our Trader Online team in Norfolk, VA. The candidate will work in development of web based applications.
TraderOnline.com is a collection of high-traffic website receiving millions of visitors each week. TraderOnline.com has several websites covering a diverse mix of categories such as automobiles, trucks, heavy equipment, boats, motorcycles, aircraft, and general merchandise.
Requirements
Position Responsibilities:
Develop dynamic corporate web applications using PHO, Apache, and Oracle on Unix servers.
Build web application projects from inception to completion incorporating content management and data warehousing functionality.
Develop and deploy automated monitoring tools with reliable error/exception handling and alerting mechanisms.
Work with team members in analyzing business problems, identify best solutions, designing, developing, and implementing the solutions.
Work with QA team to thoroughly test developed applications and verify application changes when they are pushed to live.
Work with database team to fine tune database queries originating from web apps.
Support operations by identifying, researching, and resolving performance and production issues.
Create and maintain appropriate documentation.
Closely liaise with Project Manager to ensure applications are delivered per schedule and functionally complete.
Provide support for delivered software.
Essential Skills and Experience:
Bachelors Degree (preferably BS in Computer Science or Computer Engineering).
3-5 years of PHP programming experience.
5 plus years of web development experience.
Experience with Java Script, CSS, AJAX, and Apache Web Server.
Building applications from scratch (nor necessarily in PHP).
Knowledge of UNIX and software design patterns.
Ability to work in rapid development/intense environment.
Team player with good interpersonal skills.
Successful track record of both written and verbal communication.
Multi-tasker and detail-orientated.
A distinct advantage for this person would be:
- Knowledge of Cold Fusion and front-end development tools.
Experience working with Zend studio.
Familiarity with version control systems and any experience with Sub-Version.
Object orientated programming knowledge and RUP framework.
Experience developing high-traffic websites.
